Here Habermas defends his theory of discourse ethics (which he published in book form in 1983, two years prior this essay) against the criticism concerning it. In his defense he position himself toward the normative philosophy of Immanuel Kant and against the charges of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel concerning it, but Habermas does it in his very own way. Meanwhile all this reconstructing of a philosophical "debate", he clears up his own theory.
