Abstract

The paper analyses the relation of truth and love in Pascal’s thinking by interpreting the appearances of the two concepts in Pascal’s texts. What does the concept of love mean when it occurs without the concept of love, and what does it mean when the two are related? What does the statement “One can only get to truth through love” mean? And if truth is God, then why does the lack of love change it into an idol? And how can we interpret truth as an image? These are the questions the paper seeks to find answers for. The paper claims that for Pascal the statement “God is truth” is not identical with the statement “The truth is God.”
